Programme on M.Sc. Botany deals with study of lower and higher plant in context to their habitat, lifecycle, evolution and phylogenetic studies, phytochemistry.

About the Program:

M.Sc. Botany programme curriculum is balanced between classical concepts of Botany and recent technological advancements in field of plant science. Curriculum is enriched with courses having specific focus on enhancement of communication and presentation skills, development of scientific temperament and research aptitude. Industrial visit and training programme avail exposure to industrial working environment and the working porotocols.

In Botany discipline opportunities for entrepreneurship development are also available such as mushroom cultivation, nurseries, etc. Equal research opportunities are available with specific reference to plant biotechnology and production of hybrid varieties. Eligibility:
  • B.Sc. degree in CBZ / Biology / Medical/B.Sc.(Hons.) Botany / Microbiology or equivalent. Botany should be as main subject in all three years. 50% marks for general and 45% for SC/ST category.

Admission Procedure:
  • The admission is based on merit, computed on the basis of marks secured in qualifying examination. University also conducts interviews of all applicants before admitting the eligible candidates.
  • Out of the total intake, 40% seats are allotted to students of Uttarakhand under the State Quota and the rest are open to students from all India. In case the allotted percentage of seats of State Quota remains vacant, it will be filled by All India students.
