The Psychological Counseling Cell, School of Liberal Arts oragnised a workshop on Basics of Guidance and Counselling on 09 April 2022 to facilitate the learning and development of counselling skills and to gain first hand learning of counselling skills and application of counselling techniques. The workshop started with the lighting of lamp by Prof (Dr) Shravan Kumar, Dean, SLA, guest speaker Dr Shivani Tewari, Psychologist, IIT Roorkee, Dr Reeta Rautela, Head, SLA and Mr Komil Kumar, Co- ordiantor of the workshop followed by University Kulgeet. Prof (Dr) Dean, SLA extended a warm welcome to the Resource Person and delightful wishes to all the attendees and motivated the students to enthusiastically participate and learn as much as they can from the expertise of the guest speaker. The overview of the workshop was presented by Dr Reeta Rautela, in which she focused on the need of psychological well being breaking the stigma attached to it.
The session seems to be more significant as it introduces the students with the practical aspects of Counseling. Dr Tewari interacted with students and made them aware of the process of counseling, its various components and the skills to be a good therapist. The students of Liberal Arts patiently listened to the insightful talk of Dr Tewari and found it quite relatable as they are studying the theoretical aspects. Students of Liberal Arts get enlightened by the experiences and skills shared by the speaker.
In the concluding segment of the session, a vote of Thanks was proposed by Mr Komil Kumar, Coordinator, Psychological Counseling Cell, who extended gratitude to the guest speaker, teachers and the student, along with the entire SLA fraternity who contributed in their own possible ways to make the event a grand success. The entire session was enjoyed by everyone as it was interesting and insightful at the same time in its approach.
